WHERE DO I START?

For an overview of the visualizations used on this site, together with instructions for how to use them and a key to the abbreviations used throughout this project, start with the Guide. You can access the Guide both on the frontpage of the site –

– or by selecting Tips in the upper right corner of any visualization.

You can dig deeper into our database design and investigate how specific visualizations operate by following the Data Trials listed in the black menu bar to the left.

Finally, the other links in the left menu bar – under the rubrics Music in Context, Music Books, Analysis, and Performers’ Tools – will take you directly to specific visualizations, where you will be able to sort, filter, and configure data for your own research.
